SEOUL (AFP) – A dogged South Korean grandmother has failed her driving test 771 times, police said Thursday, but a local newspaper reported she will keep trying.The 68-year-old, identified only by her last name Cha, has taken the test almost every working day since 2005 in the southwestern city of Jeonju. She failed again Monday for the 771st time."It was a record-breaking number here," Choi Yong-Cheol, a police sergeant supervising the test in the city's Deokjingu district, told AFP."I wonder if she will try it again for a 772nd time."The Korea Times said Cha will in fact be back for another attempt.Choi said that Cha cannot pass the preliminary written section of the test, averaging scores of 30-50 whereas the pass mark is 60 out of 100.Local media said that Cha sells food and household items door to door at apartment complexes, carrying the items in a handcart, but wants to get a car for her business.Police estimate she has spent almost five million won (3,600 dollars) to take the written test, with each test costing 6,000 won in addition to other expenses."I feel sorry every time I see Cha fail. When she passes, I'll make a commemorative tablet myself and give it to her," one officer was quoted as saying.

the very setting in slums in india will provoke you to think and appreciate how fortunate you are in singapore.

also, we will gain knowledge through education in schools, whereas many people in the other countries are deprived of the opportunity to be educated.

knowledge need not be gained through only schools, so long as you are determined and have the hunger for knowledge, you will learn.

and, love is a commitment. life-long one.

Hi all

I have been slow in delivering my testimony since I developed my faith in the Lord. Just want to share with you guys how Lord has been showing me the way, and to encourage you guys along with me!

It all started when I was studying in Ngee Ann. Back then, Lord has shown me the way to go, and when I was studying, I already knew that I wanted to do Medicine in Uni, so I prayed to the Lord, and asked Him,"Lord, it is utmost difficult to go into Medicine from Poly, but why did you show me the way to the Poly?" God just replied,"Do not worry and put your faith in me. The way will work out for you."

All through my Poly days, Lord have been showing me the way, giving me responsibilities one after the other, and blessing me on my studies, such that I can develop all characters required. Lord has been great, and Lord has been preparing me for what He has planned for me.

Just as the odds seem to be against me, and studying overseas seem to be the only way for me to be able to do medicine, Lord opened up the way for me, to apply for NUS. I was really thrilled back then, because it signifies hope for me. I applied and did all that I needed to do. And all through the several months of preparation, Lord has placed people who will help me along the way around me, and Lord has prepared me sufficiently for the difficulties ahead of me.

After I knew I was offered a place in Medicine, my next biggest obstacle is financial backing. How am I going to be able to finance my whole 5 years of studies, which would amount to nearly 100K? Yet again, Lord opened the way for me, and I applied for scholarships. With so much competition from peers who are equally outstanding, I thought I would never had a chance to be awarded the scholarship, and so I prayed, thanking the Lord for what He has done thus far.

Lord is great, and Lord is the almighty Lord who knows what each of us are here for. Lord yet again removed another obstacle in my studies in Medicine. I received a call from the secretariat informing me that they would be rewarding me the scholarship, and I am the first case to be able to be awarded the scholarship, even though it would cost the organisation a big bomb. Lord is good, and Lord provides.

All through my time in medicine now, Lord has been showing me and giving me signs and thoughts in my mind, to learn how to be a good doctor. Initially when I entered Medicine, I wanted to do well enough to be in the Dean's List, but with my limited capabilities, I couldn't. I prayed to the Lord and asked Him,"Lord, what is it that you want me to achieve in medical school, now that You have put me into it?"

"I want you to learn to be a good doctor. Doing well in studies is not your priority now, but learning how to be a good doctor should be your utmost priority."

And so for the last few weeks of my 1st semester, I focused on learning not for grades, but to know more and to be able to be a good doctor, and indeed, my grades improved. God has been working in my life all the while, and through med school, His works in my life is made even more significant.

Just want to encourage everyone, that our Lord provides and He is the Lord who can see what we are here for. Let us all place our faith in Him, and allow Him to lead us to where we should go.

First church service in Japan...

Hey guys,

Attended my first Japanese church service with a fellow JET, Lediya last Sunday...returning to His house ofter 6 months of absence... Well actually I attended 2 services, one in English in the morning and one in Japanese in the afternoon. (English services are just once a month and the one I attended was the very first service the church decided to embark on)

It was refreshing to worship in Japanese that I could read and sing to and even feel for, understanding what the lyrics meant. It reminded me of my cantonese services back in Hong Kong, yet it felt different...my heart was carefree then but today it was heavy laden and filled with hurt and a kind of need I never felt before. As I sang, I found myself overcome with grief I had been trying so hard to put off...indeed God has created me a unique individual with a strong character and optimistic front but have I been true to myself the past few weeks? It came to a point where my thoughts sometimes became too loud for me to bear and the insanity escalates and enters troughs in erratic cycles too often. It was good to come before Him again and allow Him to break down my walls, as the sermon spoke of changing oneself first through God shaping us rather than saying that other people around us need to change.

Wait upon the Lord with expectation was the first word in the morning service. Have I actually ever learnt to wait upon the Lord before after so many years?

I don't know what to make of the service today but I broke down and hurt like I knew I should and this song rang through to me...

in my opinion, it does talk about God, about behind everything that takes place, there is a reason, God's reason.
